Here at Jeanet’s Beauty Salon we are highly educated in the art of “consultation.” With an educational academy within the salon, every salon staff member from the assistant to the manager is given ongoing training and product knowledge. When you colour your hair the colour is vibrant and full of dimension, but it will fade fast and become dry and damaged if you don’t protect it. Colour treated hair requires a little extra TLC. Here are some things you can do to make your colour reach its full potential!

USE HEAT PROTECTANTS/LEAVE-INS WITH SPF OR UV PROTECTION.

TSun breaks down chemicals in colour, so you need to make sure you are using a foundation product such as: Bumble and Bumble Prep, Tonic & Invisible Oil Primer even if you are not planning to heat style your hair. They help preserve the colour from hot tools, chemicals, environmental effects, harsh water and UV rays.

USE SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO OR ONES SPECIFICALLY FORMULATED FOR COLOUR TREATED HAIR.

Clarifying and deep cleansing shampoos are designed to remove chemical (product) buildup, so you do not want those types of products in your colour treated hair. They will also cause drying to the hair if you have high-level colours or bleach. If you have to wash your hair more than every three to five days, co-wash with a moisturizing conditioner in between shampoos

ALWAYS WASH AND RINSE YOUR HAIR IN COOL WATER.

Hot water opens the hair shaft so much that your colour will be exposed and will become worn down. Hot water also makes the hair dry and frizzy on the styling end. Washing and rinsing your hair in cool water will keep your colour in tact longer and seal more moisture into your hair. Out of all of these tips, this one is the easiest to do and probably the most important.

DEEP CONDITION WITH EVERY WASH.

You will need to install as much moisture as possible when your hair is wet so it stays in your hair in the days after washing. Intense hydrating masks should be rotated into your wash routine every week.
